(2007) **
A family vacation turns into a nightmare when residents
at local fair eat tainted beef and turn into mooing zombies. This is
what happens when a horror/comedy goes terribly wrong. Jason Hunt (Billy
Zane), his girlfriend Monica, daughter Amy and her boyfriend Blake stop
at this county fair that none of them really want to be at for a day of
reluctant fun. Right from the beginning the daughters constant bitching
got on my nerves so it wasn’t off to a good start. The family escapes
the fate of the tainted beef because the diner ran out of burgers only
to find themselves in a fight with the ravenous patrons lucky enough to
get a burger. I won’t say the film is devoid of any humor, Blake’s
constant misfortunes are pretty funny and the sight of the raw
hamburgers growing little mouths and attacking people was entertaining
as well. However, it just wasn’t enough to carry the rest of the film.
For instance, Jason and Amy head off to the farm where the beef
originated to get to the root of the matter. As they are walking through
a field they have to fight off some random zombies, they continue their
conversation as they casually whomp zombies. The scene goes on far too
long and loses any integrity it might have had. Also, Billy Zane’s
character has such a wussy personality, is this the same guy who pissed
pure evil in Demon Knight? Oh Billy, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Horror-comedy is such a tough niche to fit into. And really, I don't think anyone has ever thought Billy Zane is a great comedy guy.
Yet another list we need to make - when horror/comedy goes terribly wrong.
Billy Zane has no business anywhere near horror or comedy. He was great in Twin Peaks though.
I want to go on a road trip with Gretchen!
I bet Gretchen could kick some zombie ass!
i hate to disagree with the birthday boy, but i thought billy zane was good in dead calm.
gretchen does need to star in her very own horror movie. i'm sure we've discussed this before, but catfreeek could do makeup, handsomestan directs, fitty composes and performs the score, julie writes the script, octo creates the monster models, desroc feeds us... can't miss!
I'm all in AC!
"...county fair that none of them really want to be at for a day of reluctant fun."
HA! But isn't that all county fairs?
I second the Dead Calm sentiment, but funny Billy Zane, funny Billy Zane... how was he in Zoolander? I think I've only seen it once. Is he funny?
He's okay in CQ, but he's mostly in the background.
Alright, I feel bad asking this, but it's been too long, and I must know...
Who is Gretchen? Why is her face everywhere?
Oh man! Someone needs to find the Gretchen story post and link it up for Trevor!! (But not me cause I'm at work right now and don't really have the time. Or - just fill in whatever excuse you want that equals me being too lazy to deal with that.)
billy zane's 1 minute of screen time is memorable -- less because of what he says and more because of what's said about him.
"Listen to your friend Billy Zane. He's a cool dude."
