Enterprise kept alive for syndication

From syfyportal, "There has been various schools of thought on what kept "Star Trek: Enterprise" on the air for four years. While a select few might claim that it was a fan drive similar to what saved the original "Star Trek" in the 1960s that did the trick, former "Enterprise" actor Connor Trinneer told GateWorld that it had far more to do with the bottom line.

"The reason was because they wanted to get in or around a hundred episodes for syndication," Trinneer said in promoting his upcoming episode of "Stargate: Atlantis" where he reprises the role of the Wraith Michael. "We knew that if they were going to go five [seasons], they'd go seven, because there was no reason to go five. So having said that, it had been in our consciousness for a while."
Also, other factors influenced the fate of "Enterprise," including the impending change of UPN to the joint venture with Warner Bros. that became The CW.
But even worse, the promise of seven seasons -- and having regular work for almost a decade -- evaporated quickly.
"To be frank about it, [the cancellation] sucked," Trinneer said. "And we all -- not to anybody's detriment -- we were told when we started it was going seven years and we were like, literally, it felt like 'I just got the golden ticket.' And at the samae time, four years and syndicated, that's amazing. That doesn't happen very often. There's a handful of shows in the pantheon of television that have done that. We will live on in perpetuity."

Yes yes! Let's hear from some more actors. "I hated getting laid off. Didn't see that coming."

I guess he didn't actually watch the show, 'cause then he'd have seen the opening music and known immediately.
