NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Sigh. I'm trying to get used to this idea but it's very difficult. As much as the imagery in this new movie will probably be fun... I just wish it wasn't happening. I love the old movie too much.
I am totally 100% into this. After Beowulf, especially.
The old one's not going anywhere.
But then, I might be the only H'thonner who genuinely likes the Star Wars Special Editions. (Except for maybe JPX.)
Mind you, I prefer the originals -- and wish they were available on better discs -- but I seriously dig the SEs. And I like the remastered Beatles in mono and stereo.
Is it possible to enjoy Yellow Submarine without hallucinogens?
If you care at all about animation or visual design, Yellow Submarine is canonical. It's an incredible achievement; there's just nothing else like it. The Beatles are almost secondary (but then, they're the Beatles, so it's extra cool). (Even though it's not really them, except for the songs and two minutes at the end.)
The Beatles had a real knack for selecting film projects...sometimes. Two of their five movies are amazing movies in their own right; two of them are sheer crap; and the fifth one is such a bummer that they're currently hiding it from view (Let It Be).
