Looks like David Eick is going to need a little extra time away from "Battlestar Galactica" this coming season.NBC has announced the pickup of four new series so far for the fall season, including the "Bionic Woman" remake that Eick has been attached to, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This is the second reimagination project that Eick has been attached to as an executive producer following the critical success of "Battlestar Galactica," which will begin its fourth season on the SciFi Channel in January. It stars Michelle Ryan in the lead role as Jamie Sommers, a role originated by Lindsay Wagner in the 1976 series that lasted for 59 episodes, complete with that creepy faceless robot lady. It was a spinoff of the popular "The Six Million Dollar Man" starring Lee Majors (which, by the way, would be the "$26.3 Million Dollar Man" when adjusted for inflation).
The pilot, written by "Bird of Prey's" Laeta Kalogridis, also includes guest starring roles by Katee Sackhoff of BSG as well as Season 3 finale special guest Mark Sheppard, who defended Gaius Baltar (James Callis).
NBC also ordered pickups for three other series including "Chuck," "Journeyman" and "Life." On top of that, the network ordered a second season of the series "Friday Night Lights." "Journeyman" bears a strong resemblance to another NBC series of the 1980s, "Quantum Leap."
NBC, along with the other networks, are set to unveil their entire fall season lineup this coming week with the advertising upfronts in New York City.
