Danny Trejo has said “yes” to a feature-length version of MACHETE, the opening faux-trailer in GRINDHOUSE.“That’s going to be a blast,” Trejo bragged. “They’re going to make that. In fact, call Bob Weinstein and Harvey and tell them that I said so.”
MACHETE will most likely be Robert Rodriguez’s next movie instead of SIN CITY 2, and it will most likely be direct to DVD. Since Rodriguez already has over 30 minutes of footage, finishing up the rest should be a breeze.
“It’s kind of amazing. I think Robert Rodriguez kind of planned it that way because he told me about ‘Machete’ five years ago.Robert wants to make that into a feature and I said, ‘Okay, let’s do it. I got the time.’ So it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The filmmakers are unsure of the release date of the DVD, but rumor has it that it will be released around the same time GRINDHOUSE hits shelves.

Yeah, I have to say that’s pretty awesome. Not only does it look like a ton of fun, I’m glad to see Danny Trejo get a starring role as an action badass.
I missed Grindhouse but if the Machete character is anything like the knife guy in Desperado, then I'll buy it on the spot.
They actually reference that guy, when Machete's atop a limo whipping machetes through the sunroof.
This is all so great.
The Machete preview had me absolutely giddy with delight, it was so awesome.
"He knows the angles. He gets the women." "When you hire Machete to kill the bad guy, just make sure that the bad guy isn't you!"
And my favorite line (since the trailer definitelyisn't MPAA approved: "They just fucked with the wrong Mexican!"
I really hope they make the movie in such a way that every single clip in the trailer turns out to be "from" the real film.
