Unnecessary sequel announcement

From worstpreviews, Twentieth Century Fox is launching development of a sequel to Oliver Stone's 1987 drama "Wall Strett." The film will be a potential starring vehicle for Michael Douglas, who won an actor Oscar for his role as cold-hearted takeover artist Gordon Gekko.

Fox has signed deals with Edward Pressman, who produced the original, and writer Stephen Schiff to pen an updated version of a look into the underside of the financial world. Project is titled "Money Never Sleeps," but Stone's not involved as a writer or director.Stone's screenplay, written with Stanley Weiser, and Douglas' performance captured for many the essence of the win-at-all-costs culture of the 1980s. Script features such nuggets as "greed is good," "lunch is for wimps" and "if you need a friend, get a dog."

Hell yeah this is unnecessary. Are we really interested in seeing a story about investment market forces 20 years later? Actually…wait a second…

Hey, has there been an equivalent movie that covers the bursting of the internet bubble? I guess there might be a movie there, although I’m sure not going to write it.

Anyway, even if the recent economic landscape might have some worthy tales, why bring back Gordon friggin’ Gekko? Will we get to see him break out of white-collar prison?
