"Pineapple Express" Director to Remake "Suspiria" Next Year

From worstpreviews, Over a year ago, we reported that "Pineapple Express" director David Gordon Green was set to direct a remake of Dario Argento's horror film "Suspiria." Since then, the project seemed to have fallen apart.

Now, hidden in a Variety article, producer Luca Guadagnino revealed that plans are on track for his First Sun production company to produce the long-in-gestation remake of "Suspiria." He added that Green is still onboard to helm and that production will begin by next year.

In Argento's 1977 original, a young American dancer travels to Europe to join a famous ballet school. As she arrives, the camera turns to another young woman, who appears to be fleeing from the school. She returns to her apartment where she is gruesomely murdered by a hideous creature. Meanwhile, the young American is trying to settle in at the ballet school, but hears strange noises and is troubled by bizarre occurrences. She eventually discovers that the school is merely a front for a much more sinister organization.

Natalie Portman was previously mentioned to star. No word on whether that's still the case.
