Dark Amazon

Deep in the Brazilian rainforest a group of researchers along with a film crew seek out a rare frog that holds the key to curing cancer.  Along the way they encounter tribes, deadly animals, and something more sinister.  Soon the researchers find themselves in a fight for their lives.

For those who hate found footage films don’t bother; for all others, don’t bother.  Although no better/no worse than the majority of films in the found footage genre this one grates due to long stretches where nothing happens and characters who behave immaturely.  I can’t stand movies where a group of people are put together to accomplish something important yet don’t have the maturity to be part of something so significant.  I disliked Prometheus for a dozen reasons  - you would never spend trillions of dollars to put together a team for the most important mission on Earth and then behave in an insubordinate manner, smoke, drink, screw, etc.  I felt this way watching Aliens recently – what a bunch of assholes.  See also, “The Martian Chronicles”.  I’ve already spent too much time on this film.  In “Dark Amazon” the scientists squabble, disobey orders etc.  Although there are a few “scary” moments, the majority of the film is plodding with occasional loud noise thrown in to punctuate the silence.
