Damien: Omen II
(1978) ****
What's this then? A horror sequel that isn't an utter abomination? Well I'll be goddamned.
Part II gives us a prepubescent Damien's journey through boarding school. It leads to the discovery that he is the son of the devil. Jonathan Scott-Taylor is terrifically cast in the title role. He's not necessarily a bad, bad kid though there is a whiff of aryan superiority about him that serves the film well. Like the first one, Damien has minion protectors including tough-as-nails Lance Henriksen. Damien's descent to the dark side is perfectly executed and convincing. Hayden Christiansen may have benefited from studying this. Who am I kidding, he was always hopeless.
Anyhow, Omen II is a good story with some great scares. It does succumb to the sequel pitfall of upping the body count but that is certainly not a crime. There was one death that was entirely superfluous though. I credit it to Damien showing off his power. My only minor grievance is the uncle played by a stubborn William Holden. His refusal to see the writing on the wall until too late was frustrating.

Believe it or not, this was the only screen shot I could find from this movie. Look at the little bastard, getting all the chicks. Stupid antichrist.
Hey, thanks Veggie! Thanks for dissing that spammer in the Hellraiser comments too (I was going to keep your comment, but after deleting his it didn't makes sense).
Why are you busting on Hayden Christiansen? He was
1) Very good in "Sith" (Tom Stoppard dialogue helps)
2) Excellent in "Shattered Glass"
3) Very insistent on blaming Lucas for his "Clones" performance
4) In general, an interesting screen presence.
I thought he was good in Sith as well.
