Shallow Ground

(2004) ***1/2

(Refer to JPX's earlier plot summary/review)

If you can stomach the non-stop flowing of blood and the squishy gross sounds that accompany it, then you're in for a modern indie horror gem. Stylistically, it's a one-of-a-kind thriller capable of doling out goosebumps and dry heaves in equal doses. The Missing Persons department of a small town is forced to work overtime as a growing evil threatens the lives of the entire community. The writers eventually lose control of the plot by making it unnecessarily complex, which prevents Shallow Ground from being truly exceptional but it's well worth a viewing.
