Omen III: The Final Conflict

(1981) **1/2

Surprisingly, Omen III was not the disaster that I had expected. Sam Neill plays Damien Mach-3, primed and ready for world domination. The only thing stopping him is that pesky prophetic birth of baby Jesus. So Damien sets out to kill all the local babies born on the date of the prophecy. Amazing balls this movie has, offing babies. It's just barely good enough to solidify the trilogy and wrap up the loose ends.

Still, something just ain't right. The deaths aren't as meaningful as they were in the first two and they're carried out in a forced, routine manner. What happened the threat of appocolypse that the trilogy was building up to? A rushed, squandered opportunity. Squandered, I tell ya.
