Gilbert, are you real?

From Iwatchstuff, “The teaser poster for Fox Atomic's Revenge of the Nerds remake has been released, reminding us why we hate nerds: mostly their stupid glasses, but also how they're annoying and nerdy.
To me, the poster seems a bit outdated in its portrayal of a nerd. I guess it's hard to convey social ineptitude, terrible body odor, repeated references to World of Warcraft, and talking to me for an hour about the benefits of Linux in a poster, but at least try.”

Hmm. I'm tired of the broken-glasses-held-together-with-white-tape nerd. Didn't that originate with "Spaz" in Meatballs? That was 27 years ago. Don't nerds know to use black tape or something? It's not like it's only nerds who break their glasses anyway. I had a pair I kept together with a teeny safety pin for months.

Oh wait, I'm a nerd.

How the hell do glasses get broken in that way? Seriously, what do you have to do to snap glasses in precisely that spot?

Usually the lens just falls out of my sunglasses. Equally weird I guess.

I watched Meatballs about a month ago and it most definitely does not hold up.

It's so cheap! They just went to camp with a bunch of cameras and drugs.

Caddyshack is better.

I think you break your glasses that way by getting punched in the face. Come over here, I'll show you.

note who's on the list of producers -- McG, who has proven time and time again that you don't need to be a nerd to make me want to punch you in the face. the same McG who will be releasing a film version of the toy Hot Wheels next year. His bio on IMDb features two out of three quotes that reference his mental chemical imbalance. So in addition to being a hack director, he's also that 15 year old girl with the black hair and the thrift store clothes walking around telling everyone how "weird" she is.
