June 15th 2007 will be lame

From Superherohype, "20th Century Fox has confirmed to Superhero Hype! that the Fantastic Four sequel has a new name - Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer. The movie was previously known as Fantastic Four and The Silver Surfer. The second film, directed by Tim Story, is set to hit theaters on June 15, 2007.

In the sequel, the enigmatic, intergalactic herald, The Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of The Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost."

My favorite dumb part of Fantastic Four is the moment when Dr. Doom just sort of FINDS his mask over against the wall in a display case. He just goes, "Oh," and picks it up and puts it on. Then he's wearing it for the rest of the movie.

And who WAS that guy, anyway? I hate that kind of actor. I remember the villain in "Passenger 57" (not that I saw it or anything) and the other thief in "Ocean's 12" and the various male co-stars in the "Lara Croft" movies; they're all these utterly bland "European" mannequins who get cast in this sort of thing, whom no real director would go near because they suck all the air out of the movie as they recite pretentious lines about how debonair and superior they are: they're so bland they probably don't even leave fingerprints, just round circles of black ink.

Those are Kirby dots!

Actually, I would say Jordan's comment sums up my feelings on the FF movie pretty accurately, and probably my feelings about FF2 as well. That title sucks.

it always makes me chuckle a bit when the cipher euro-villain makes a career out of being a cipher euro-villain. i just saw kingdom of heaven the other night and the bad guy was the loony czech dude from XXX.

and then there are the cipher euro-villains that get picked because they look like other more talented actors. like the guy in the patriot who looked like jason isaacs.
