(2009) ** 1/2
The Grudge 3 picks up with the same character that ends The Grudge 2 - a little boy whose family was killed in the previous film. So, just as I got excited to think that the saga would continue, the little boy is killed in the opening minutes and we are introduced to a new cast who coincidentally live in the apartment building from the Grudge 2, and thus will face the same trials and tribulations that we know so much about.
The Grudge 3 falls into the pattern that I discussed in reviewing Grudge 2 - new cast, same villain, repeat previous film's events. There's really nothing new here, and the story evolves only slightly. Couple stars for doing a lot with what is clearly a small budget, and nice appearances by Shawnee Smith (the Saw girl) and Marina Sirtis (looking so much older than Counselor Troi from Star Trek:TNG).
Where's Jean-Luc when you need him?

Wow, I didn't even realize that was Marina Sirtis when I watched this film! She looks like she's melting.
That is a comment you never want to hear about yourself. "Gee, that was you? You looked like you were melting!"
Oh, I dunno. It looks like maybe she's flaking away, too.
