A Real Friend
(2006)
The 5th in the 6 films to keep you awake series is the story of a young girl who much like us loves scary movies. Estrella is a smart girl, but she's a bit of a loner. When it comes to socializing with the other students she prefers to find a quiet corner where she can read. Her real friends are those all too familiar scary movie icons brought to life by her vivid imagination. Her closest friend is Leatherface, he consoles her when she's feeling down. When a bald man on a motorcycle shows up she thinks he is the vampire, like to her Nostradamus doll (I want that doll!). Unfortunately this guy is no imaginary friend, he's very real and very dangerous.
Sadly this is the worst from the series. I wanted this one to be better considering the content and it really had some major potential for awhile. The lines blurring between Estrella's imagination and the very real threat of this man that it seems she herself isn't entirely sure is real. The story actually doesn't fall apart until the very end, but what's worse than a disappointing ending to an otherwise good story. Don't let this discourage you from the series though, the rest of them have a lot of potential.

Wow, so that's actually Leatherface? Like, the Leatherface? I wonder if they had to ask permission.
I don't know Octo, they never actually call him Leatherface or Nostradamus either for that matter but they are clearly who they are.
