(2010) ***
Over 100 college students have disappeared in a small Midwestern community and no one is talking. Journalist Maria Sanchez and her cameraman agree to meet with a mysterious man named Emmett who seems to know the whole story behind the serial killer he refers to as Cyrus. The cameraman starts to get a little suspicious as to why Emmett knows so much about Cyrus while Maria is just too involved with getting the scoop before the authorities to notice that something is amiss.
I’m not surprised that this film delivered because it stars Lance Henriksen, the man just has such an awesome presence. However, there are plenty glaring red flags that can really frustrate the viewer. For instance, Maria who is supposed to be this great journalist finds absolutely nothing suspicious about Emmett showing them a box full of id’s from the missing college students. She also has no problem with the fact that Emmett is recounting the way Cyrus tortured and killed certain victims with explicit detail. I figured whatever happens at this point, the stupid bitch gets what she deserves. Still, the story of Cyrus is pretty interesting. After failing as a farmer and getting screwed over by his cheating wife Cyrus finally finds his niche selling highly popular and delicious road kill burgers at his local deli shop/diner. The novelty of road kill attracts the college kids to the diner, they come from miles around just for a taste of Cyrus’ meat. What they don’t realize is that the missing students are the meat in his burgers.
The story is mostly predictable but also very entertaining. There is a faint hint of humor added from time to time but not enough to make it campy or cheap. Lance makes it all worthwhile.

Cool. Any movie with Lance Henriksen is ok by me. The plot seems a little thin. 100 missing college students seems awfully greedy. Wouldn't that constitute a national crisis?
And speaking of this plot, wasn't there supposed to be a Motel Hell remake in the works?
Just looked it up, there were "talks" of a remake in 2008.
Anytime I read about a movie where someone uses people for food I think of this weird movie called "Eating Raoul" that was another movie pawned off on our Dad at the Video Connection.
we do love our lance!
I love eating raoul! Hey wait, that doesn't sound right.
Hmm, would Eating Raoul count as a horror/comedy? It's a good movie, but not very scary. Still, killing.
I also love me some Lance.
I also remember enjoying Eating Raul. I IMDB'd it when I left that comment and I gotta admit, I'm not so sure I realized at the time (I was probably 11 or 12) that they were luring people there with the promise of sex!
