(2015)***
Filmed on location at the abandoned Ladd school in Exeter Rhode Island which has since been torn down.
We are far too old to be playing this.
A group of teens trek out to the old place to get drunk and high and play light as a feather/stiff as a board. They accidentally release an entity and one of their group becomes possessed. They place a call to a priest they know who worked at the place when it was open but two of the teens freak out and run him over as they attempt to drive off so they try performing a do it yourself exorcism that they found on the web but it only seems to piss it off. Yes, the story is one we have heard again and again. There are two reasons for watching this the first is the location and yes that's why I picked it, the second is because the film is exctually pretty darn entertaining. There is just the right amount of humor injected into it to keep it interesting and fun while also keeping it from becoming totally campy. You have a bunch of kids that are high and drunk, of course they make bad decisions. This is the one scenario where you expect bad decisions to be made and it doesn't piss you off when they are. I wouldn't sell this as a great film but it's one you could watch with a group of friends and have a really fun time.
Here are a couple of creepy shots I took at Ladd in 2013:

Cool pictures - thanks for including them. I'll probably skip the movie, but you should post some more pics. Did YOU go inside too and perform an internet exorcism?
Light as a feather/stiff as a board - HA!
Those pictures are cool.
We weren't able to go inside because security patrolled the area but the buildings were really cool and it's a shame they tore them down. This is the second institution I was fortunate enough to be able to photograph before it was torn down.
Great creepy pix! Also will skip movie however.
I saw this movie as a choice on Netflix or HBO Now or some damn thing on my Apple TV -- I thought of checking it out but figured there was no way it was about Exeter, RI. I'm delighted! Might have to check it out. I love the plot device of having a Plan A that would end the movie too soon and then just running over that plan with a car.
Will have to watch just because of location! We seem to get to see the cool locations right before the tear down. I just wish were able to see Danvers :(.
