From CHUD, There's an upcoming DVD you may want to get curious about. It's called The Breed, and it registers on the radar for being directed by an acolyte of both Wes Craven and George Romero, a fellow by the name of Nick Mastandrea. I knew an Andrea shaped like a mast. Here's the synopsis: "A group of friends (Michelle Rodriguez, Taryn Manning, Hill Harper and Oliver Hudson) fly away to a deserted island for a weekend excursion. They realize that this beautiful getaway was once controlled by a special canine research unit and it will soon become their biggest nightmare. Inspired by horror classics...The Breed takes you into the jaws of a flesh eating pack of wild dogs, genetically engineered to hunt and kill. Outnumbered and trapped they struggle to outsmart and outrun this terrifying species."
I'm not sure exactly which classic horror movies it is inspired by, but nature horror still has reserves of untapped potential; exhibit (a) being Nick's own Grizzly Park. The disc hits the streets on May 22; we'll have a review for you soon, gushing our unending love for Michelle Rodriguez. You may want to wear galoshes.

Dammit, what is it with these isolated science compounds and this crazy dangerous shit they’re always up to? Isn’t someone out there genetically engineering really smart and friendly dogs who can find your TV remote for you? They should make enhanced versions of those Saint Bernards with the brandy barrels on their necks that rescue people lost in the Alps.
See, what happens is, every time a young couple sneaks off to fool around, a dog appears and rescues them and drags them back to camp. It’ll be a teen sex comedy instead of a horror movie.
Yup... And here I wait, In the shadows for a horror movie that will make me run back to my mother.
