Cage confirms third 'Treasure'

From darkhorizons, Jerry Bruckheimer and Nicolas Cage both attended the Walt Disney Showcase in Hollywood this afternoon and revealed a third "National Treasure" is in the works.

Director Jon Turteltaub will be back behind the camera, and much of the original cast will return as well for the film.

No plot details were announced, but a late 2010 release is looking likely.

Ugh.

I didn't see the second one, but I agree. Something about mining the dark recesses of our country's scant history chokes me with boredom.

I didn't mind the premise so much, just that it was executed with such complete idiocy. Seriously one of the worst movies I've seen in decade. Obviously I also didn't see the sequel, which I heard (from fans of the first!) was "not as good." Ouch.
