AC hearts Peter Frampton

I realize that with this post I am inviting merciless ribbing on every level, so bring it. No, I swear, I did not have a crush on Peter Frampton in the 70s, but I have a wicked big crush on him now. I saw him 2 or 3 years ago (at the awful south shore music circus, which always reminds me of Spinal Tap venues after "their appeal has become more selective"), and at that time he played a relatively mellow and eclectic show, with lots of bluesy-jazzy tunes in addition to rock. Even in the crappy venue, based on that concert Frampton was added to the very short list of performers I will drop everything to go see. Tonight, my schlep down to Foxborough in the rain was rewarded with a totally different and validating experience. Tonight's show was hard-rocking insanity, with extended hardcore virtuosos guitar jams. Frampton played off the band and played off the audience. His guitar playing was electrifying, and the band of course was amazing too. Enhancing the musicianship, Frampton's stage persona is warm, genuine, funny, and charming. I admit I'm a sucker for guitar geniuses, but Frampton is really something special. Sigh!

Don't feel bad AC, I confessed to the girls at work that I never liked Peter Frampton in the 70's and I bought the album because if you didn't own "Frampton Comes Alive" you risked being the subject of public ridicule.
I never got into that whole guitar speak thing he does. Maybe it was the whole Sgt. Pepper fiasco that turned me off, that movie was an abomination. The Bee Gees, for God's sake what were they thinking!!

too funny catfreeek! i have never owned a frampton album myself. he did do the guitar speak thing on maybe three songs lat night.

if i become sufficiently embarrassed about this new crush, watching sgt. pepper would serve as a cold shower. it is one of my favorite bad movies ever, but no one could sustain a crush on peter frampton while watching it.

yeah, what were they thinking when they made that movie? is there a "behind the music" for sgt. pepper? i must know!

For the record, the girls at work were totally disgusted with me. They just couldn't believe I didn't like him. The weird thing is, I did have a mad crush on Iggy Pop, how funny is that!

I have no judgments to make since I've never really listened to Peter Frampton. Crush away, AC!

You love who you want AC! This is America damn it, and if we can teach the rest of the world anything about freedom, it is that being free includes bad music/tv/movie crushes. In the interest of solidarity, and to make sure the terrorists don't win, I shall now admit my odd TV crush. USA, USA, USA.

I totally have the hots for Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel. I will sit through a full half-hour of her droning on and on about hotels I will never be able to afford in Hawaii, or Cancun if it means she might appear in a bikini by the pool or on the beach. WTF?!

The can take our lives, but they can never take our freedom.

thanks for the support everyone so far!

miko, what an awesome defense of our right, even our responsibility, to freely and vigorously express our feelings. i never thought about crushes that way before, and i feel very patriotic all of a sudden. though what's odd about your tv crush? she's adorable!

given miko's argument, my tv crushes on mike rowe from dirty jobs and alistair appleton from cash in the attic are now noble rather than disturbing. thanks miko!

Right there with you on Mike Rowe! He is adorable.

I can also admit to a bit of a girl crush on Samantha Brown. Cute, cute, cute. (Funnily enough, desroc and I were just talking about her figure last night because she was on a commercial hawking Champion Windows in an unfortunate outfit. I was all, "she's waaaaay skinnier then that outfit makes her look.")

David Bowie got Peter Frampton to play lead guitar on his 1997 album "Never Let Me Down." (The album also includes instrumentals by Charlie Sexton and a rap delivered by Mickey Rourke.)

At the time is wasn't considered a very good Bowie album, but it actually holds up pretty well (as many people have grudgingly acknowledged). I feel vindicated because I always liked it and I especially admired Frampton's powerhouse guitar work.
