Seven Women For Satan

(1974) **1/2

Banned in France for nearly a decade, Seven Women For Satan follows the depraved exploits of Count Boris Zaroff, who is a complete bastard in every sense of the word (except for the literal one). Zaroff inherited his father’s enormous estate complete with countless acres of land, a mansion and the obligatory torture chamber. Like most obscenely wealthy men, the Count spends his free time chasing women. Only this guy chases them… to their deaths!

What we have here is a so-so 70’s French exploitation take on A Most Dangerous Game. It’s got a few things going for it – some vicious deaths, grossly inappropriate 70’s funk music, a ruthless butler and, of course, nudes’o’plenty.

The couple below actually asked Zaroff if they could test out some of his torture devices for fun. Congratulations idiots: you are officially the easiest prey I’ve ever encountered in a horror movie!

Not bad overall. I was slightly disappointed that Satan had absolutely nothing to do with the movie but the Count and the butler did a fine job of being evil without Your Lordship’s assistance. Take it or leave it.

"grossly inappropriate 70’s funk music"

Is there any other kind of 70's funk music?

Why I was listening to some grossly inappropriate 70’s funk music in the last movie I watched. What a coincidence.

Boy, that couple went out partying. Well, almost.

"the depraved exploits of Count Boris Zaroff, who is a complete bastard in every sense of the word (except for the literal one)." Hilarious!

Yeah, what is it about all these old films that use the word "Satan" in the title even though the films have nothing to do with Satan? I recently reviewed The Devil Commands, which also had nothing to do with the devil. Back then they probably thought that people would watch anything as long as the word "devil" or "satan" was in the title of the film - a total bait and switch! Of course, we keep falling for it.

Heh heh. Were there at least 7 women doing something?
