No Simpsons Movie 2?

From worstpreviews, "The Simpsons Movie" opens with Bart writing "I will not wait 20 years to make another movie" on the classroom blackboard, but that might not be completely true.

Executive producer Al Jean revealed to the NYPost that the scene is simply a tease, with no hidden message of another installment. "We would only do a sequel if we believed it was a movie that had to be made, just like we did with the first one," Jean said. "We wouldn't want to do it just because the first one was successful, or because we wanted to make money off of a movie. We'd only do it if we had a script that we thought was great [and] there's no script at this point."

"The Simpsons Movie" has grossed more than $175 million in the US and Jean says it's on track to earn a total of $500 million when overseas grosses are factored in. For now, he said, producers are focusing on the new season, which premieres September 23rd.

I still haven't seen the first one. Is it good?

There just seems to be something weird about it, you know? It's strange when the people who made a movie don't seem particularly enthusiastic about what they're doing.

It was good but really no better than the good Simpsons episodes. The production value was damn nice and there were a few great one-liners, but overall it was just a long Simpsons episode (IMHO).

A long and also really good Simpsons episode. True, there wasn't a whole lot in there to mark the boosting from TV to big screen, but I thought what was there was great. And it was gorgeous.

The bummer thing is that a couple clunker jokes are grouped at the end -- and the "wait through the entire credits" gags aren't worth it (the Squeaky Voiced Teenager comes out and says a few stupid things).

I'm thinking of seeing it again since Jules hasn't seen it. And I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that the lack of enthusiasm Jordan notes was meant to be a "quality over bling bling" comment, especially since they have another season to work on.
