First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

When you really think about it, Horrorthon 2007 is not too far away...
According to the latest polls, the big question on every Horrorthonner's mind is "will Jordan participate?" After his stunning dissection of Dawn of the Dead last year, the world had a glimpse of what he is capable of contributing to the competition. I know I'm not the only one who would like to see more out of him...
Moving on, we've briefly discussed possible amendments to the competition and though my ideas received a lukewarm response, I officially propose the following:
1) Limit to 5 movies under 1 hour. Many complained that JPX sleezed his way to victory last year by focusing on Masters of Horror episodes and oldies under the hour mark. I believe that these movies can and should be included but only in a limited fashion.
2) The point system - one last try. Extra points awarded if a participant does the following: a) watches an entire series (of 5 or more movies) b) watches at least one movie of every decade beginning in the 20's c) You know what, this really isn't the best idea. Let's move on.
3) All reviews must be in by November 15th or the movies don't count. Last year I was simultaneously wrapping X-Mas gifts and waiting for JPX to complete his damn reviews.
That's all. On a personal note, I have a strong feeling that I'm going to win this year.

I would just like to say that is one freaky face Johnny!
"Many complained that JPX sleezed his way to victory last year..."
You need to stop selling this idea because nobody's buying it! By conservative numbers I watched 17 more movies than my closest competitor (cough, cough, Octo). I say conservatively because I didn't even write up all my reviews. Once I realized that I squashed the competition, I didn't see the need to get the last few out. And, Johnny? There's no way you're going to win. You dudes with chicks get weighed down, "You're not going to watch more horror tonight are you?"
Hilarious post, by the way!
Blanche, of course! Who would go near Dorthy? Wait, we're talking about sex, right?
I know JPX, I didn't mean to take anything away from your accomplishment last year. Wait a minute, that's precisely what I intended... In any case, you're so going down this year, it's disgusting.
So what is your vote on the amendments?
dude, why am i the one getting taunted at the bottom of the article? i finished last. that isn't enough? gotta pee in my cheerios too?
Well, it's like that famous zen proverb: "He who leaves many wallet-sized pictures of himself for distribution amongst his friends will one day see that picture photoshopped, and not to his liking."
1) That's a decent limit. Why not? An hour and change is not that tough a requirement.
2) I assume that the wall you hit there was on this concept of "points." Horrorthon isn't scored on a point system, it's just the quantity of movies and I love that about it. To insert extra scoring, the quickest move would be to just allow the person more in their movie count, and that doesn't really work good either. "I watched 98 movies, but really I watched 90 and scored the rest on points." Nah...but you seem to already agree.
3) This seems pretty good, and I think short, capsule reviews are fine if the deadline's looming. I think the goal should be: try to say what you want to say. I also hope that JPX, having scored his much-needed victory last year, won't feel the need to keep his numbers so close to the vest this year.
4) Yes, Jordan, participate! Dcd and Julie should too, although they're girls and of course they won't win.
5) Glad we made it onto the pie chart somewhere.
Oh yes, we want a lot of guest reviews this year! I have high expectations for DCD and Julie contributions.
Yeah, they're girls so they won't win, but still.
Also, I agree, no point system. I have no problem with the other proposals.
"gotta pee in my cheerios too?"
That's the funniest thing I've heard all week. I hope you don't mind if I adopt that phrase as my own.
We should try to get the X-Entertainment guy to do a guest review also. And Anne Chosak should write one. It would be great if I could get Thomas Mullen to write one too but alas he loathes horror movies.
