Asylum

I'm going for that Fiona Apple look.

(2008) **

A bunch of kids with issues move into a newly opened dorm that is actually a renovated insane asylum. They venture into an unfinished wing of the building that they were told not to go into and inadvertently let loose the spirit of a crazy doctor. The doctor preys on their deepest kept emotional pains and tortures them to death. As they are picked off one by one the remaining students must figure out a way to stop the whacky doctor before it's too late.

I'm scary, right? Oh wait, let me adjust this blue light. Now I'm scary.

I was really annoying but did I deserve this? YES!

Blah, blah blah! I discovered there are at least 24 movies titled Asylum and most of them have the same basic plot. In other words, this film lacks originality. I bet you could have guessed that anyway. If there is any redeeming quality to the film it's in the one liners provided by the doc as he's breaking down the teens. The best line in the movie comes as the doc's spirit disguised as one boys food obsessed mother tells the boy, “I won't love a skinny child! Fuck you and eat your food!”. Now that was funny. Otherwise, my advice is to skip it.
