Buck Rogers in 3D by Paul W.S. Anderson

From variety, Buck Rogers is taking flight again, this time with Paul W.S. Anderson directing from a script by "Iron Man" co-writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
Character is the latest classic hero -- including Conan, the Green Hornet, Doc Savage, Dan Dare, even Popeye -- that bowed in the 1920s through 1950s and are being reintroduced on the bigscreen.

Paradox Entertainment, which is in the midst of lensing a reboot of "Conan," with Marcus Nispel helming, will produce the "Buck Rogers" adventure. Pic could be lensed in 3D to take advantage of the latest theatrical craze.

Wow, that Gil Gerard Buck Rogers show was awful. What are they doing in that picture, sitting at a desk?

"We're in a spaceship! Fshwuuuuuu!"

Coincidentally, Julie was poking around in her mom's storage space recently and found a book from her childhood: a huge volume reproducing years and years of Buck Rogers daily strips. Needless to say, it's the coolest and goofiest thing ever.

Erin Grey. Nothing replaces that.

I don't care how ad-hoc the sets were, or how hand-me-down everything smelled from Battlestar Galactica and Glen A. Larson, there ain't NOTHIN stoppin a good Erin Grey Blond-A-Thon.

Which pretty much takes you through the first eight or so episodes of the original series, when the sexual tension was at a high point and she was still blonde. She went dark around episode 9, and (for the record, I love brunettes, and am about to make a serious life commitment to one), she was better blond.

The Searcher? Maybe you're Searching for Galactic Hair Dye, or Universal How Not To Suck Serum. Season 2?

FAIL.

Remake?

FAIL, destined.

Even in that stupidly-designed helmet that bores a point of plastic molding into your forehead, she looked hot. And she had a good, strong husky voice in the first few episodes, being very "Commander Deering" and not the "Oh Buck" crap from the latter episodes.

I bought the entire series on DVD for cheap last year but I never made it through the series premiere. Summer seems like a good time to revisit this following my Space 1999 project (starting soon).
