I have no idea who Machine Man is but that panel is hilarious for at least 5 reasons.
Too right! All three units of writing are funny for their own reasons, and for the way they're alllmost completely unrelated to each other.
I like the suggestion that his feelings are hurt by those people asking who he is.
Right! Or is something else going on, off behind him, that evoked that reaction?
Are the "Who is that?" and the "Machine Man is a robot!" related, or just juxtaposed by coincidence? Is "Who is that?" meant to denote the shock value of his being a robot? Also, hey "Machine Man is a robot,"... DUH.
So much dynamism in one little panel. You know who could make this graphic fiction stuff really pop on the screen? Ang Lee, that's who.
