George Lucas Announces Star Wars on Blu-Ray in 2011 with deleted scenes



From sirstevesguide, Straight from Celebration V, George Lucas revealed that the Star Wars saga will finally be coming to the Blu-Ray high-definition format next year, with new deleted scenes.

During "The Main Event" live stage discussion panel with George Lucas and interviewer Jon Stewart at the Celebration V convention in Orlando, Florida, just after 12:10pm EDT, Lucas revealed that the Star Wars movies will be released next year on Blu-Ray. The box set will feature new features and never-before-seen deleted scenes. Actor Mark Hamill was brought on stage to help introduce one of the set's deleted scenes which was then shown to the audience, a scene cut from the beginning of Return of the Jedi with Luke Skywalker in a cave assembling his new lightsaber.

The Star Wars movies Blu-Ray boxed set will be released in Fall of 2011.

Well I'm still not getting a Blu-Ray player. But I'm psyched to see more deleted scenes.
