Pre-Halloween Adventure

We're so excited for the season to hit we just couldn't help but go on an adventure. Here are some shots from the Spider Gates Cemetery in Leicester, MA.

Tony trying to figure out why there is a green P in a circle on the pillar.

Some local folklore can be read here for those of you who have never heard of it.

The hanging tree

It was a little difficult to find since it is not on a main road. We had to park in a little alcove and walk down a dirt road into the woods. We weren't sure we were heading the right way, luckily 2 local ghost hunters arrived right after us and showed us where to go.

We found it to be quaint and serene. There were signs of rituals having been performed, lots of burned rocks and ashes as well as busted glass candle jars. Although I'm not sure what sort of demon they were trying to invoke with a tropical fruit candle from Walmart.

An old stain on the wall at the entrance. Blood! Anyone missing a goat?

We looked for the second "hidden" cemetery but no such luck. Still, it was a cool place and certainly helped to get us in the mood for spookier days to come. Horrorthon!

Excellent post! I love your pictures and your enthusiasm, for Halloween-related subjects. I've been feeling the tug Halloween from in-store displays to newspaper ads for autumn-themed items. It's been a spectacular weekend here in New England. WIth temperatures in the mid-70s and the leaves starting to change color, I'm getting Horrorthon fever! Where the hell is Leicester, MA?

Just outside of Worcester, damn gps took us through the Worcester ghetto to get there.

Excellent adventure, and excellent post. Way to bring it, Cat, really.

I can't think of anything so genuinely old-fashioned scary like that anywhere near me. But LA's ghettoes can kick Worcester's ghetto's ass and we all know it.

The ghetto's are much scarier than the graveyards. However, the weirdo walking his dog in the woods while we were there is way up there on my list.

Cool shit Catfreeek! There's an abandoned insane asylum in San Francisco that we tried (unsuccessfully)to find. We ended up breaking into an abandoned military dorm. We set off a silent alarm, the cops came, we exited and they questioned us but we played dumb and they couldn't do shit. Cops are dumbasses.
