'Back to the Future' ride bound for past

From usatoday, LOS ANGELES (AP) — A ride that took theme park visitors Back to the Future is about to be relegated to the past.
The Universal Studios Hollywood ride based on the film trilogy starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd was taking its final passengers Monday. It was closing to make room for a new Simpsons attraction.

"Back to the Future — The Ride," was the theme park's first high-technology thrill ride when it opened in 1993.

Passengers were strapped into a moving carriage — modeled after the film's DeLorean time machine — in front of a film projected on a domed screen, which gave the illusion of flight.

The new ride based on The Simpsons TV series will debut next year, theme park officials said.

I loved this ride! I would be more upset if it wasn't being replaced by a Simpsons ride.

Eh...I never made too much noise about it, but I found this ride sort of pointless. The crescendo was the DeLorean about to tip into the T-rex's mouth, then it reverses, then it goes forward again. Everybody made a lot of noise, but I was going "huh?" Compared to that other famous flight-simulator driven ride, Star Tours, in which you get to actually dive into and fly down the Death Star trench, this left me sort of cold.

Glad you liked it, though. Me, I miss Captain Eo.
