Roland Emmerich is apparently making another horrible movie
From cinemablend, Sometimes teaser movie posters are interesting, like the Taking Woodstock and Julie & Julia posters that have debuted in the last 24 hours.
And sometimes they're like the 2012 poster, which is precisely what you would expect from a Roland Emmerich teaser poster. Don't you remember the teaser poster for Independence Day, which I continue to swear was hanging in the lobby of my local theater for two years before the movie actually came out? The same stark letters, black background, threat of doom-- all the atmosphere you want to evoke about the movie, but nothing all that original. At least we got something by way of a tagline: "Who will be left behind?" Think they're intentionally trying to evoke the Left Behind apocalypse theory? I think yes.

Oh boy. More hoo-ha with the End Times.
I just watched Religulous and so I'm particularly annoyed by the popularity of that concept. I fear our apocalypse is going to be a slow, steady decline in all things instead of a big cataclysmic show, and nobody will prevent it because they're too fixated on the imminent show.
Thinking you'll be around for the end of the world. What ego.
I loved Religulous!
In the first place,, Whitley Streiber (author of the book 2012) is borderline certifiable. The book is entertaining, to say the least, but parallel dimensions of warring factions of aliens just throws the Ridiculo-Meter off the charts. Plus, he makes HIMSELF one of the main characters, a writer channelling inter-dimensional messages. The word "ehhhh" doesn't quite cover it...
Roland Emmerich, in the second place, is precisely the man to bring this retarded version of December 23rd (or 21st), 2012 to the screen.
For the true believers out there, try to picture a future in which a Roland Emmerich movie has ACCURATELY predicted the future. The thought gives a measure of comfort.
There may very well be SOMETHING that happens on that day, or in that year, or in the years immediately following. I for one, am hoping for the singularity. Human consciousness evolving in some way; whether it's via technology or something more interestingly spiritual.
The fact is, life will pretty much go on as we've known it. But, I am a bit of a skeptical whore when it comes to 2012 nonsense, I do like reading about everyone's versions of What Will Happen, and I'm hoping SOMETHING happens...at least, something that gets me out of going to work that day...
