New "Friday the 13th" Begins Shooting in 2008
From worstpreviews, According to ShockTillYouDrop, Platinum Dunes is planning to proceed with another installment in the "Friday the 13th" franchise, before the upcoming strike. At this point, a pair of writers (Damian Shannon, Mark Swift) have been hired, with plans to begin shooting early 2008.
Shannon and Swift are best known for writing the script for "Freddy vs. Jason," which was their first Hollywood gig. Now, the duo have several projects in the works, adding "Friday the 13th" on top of that.
The site adds that early on Mark Wheaton (The Messengers) has written several drafts for the new horror film, which Platinum Dunes eventually passed on. Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) was at one point attached to helm the project. No word on whether he is still attached.
