Stage Fright

(1950) ****

Johnathan Cooper is having an affair with married actress Charlotte Inwood, Charlotte accidentally kills her husband during a domestic conflict. Johnathan, trying to protect Charlotte goes to her house and makes it look like a breaking but he is spotted leaving the scene by the maid. He then seeks the aid of his friend Eve asking her to conceal his whereabouts. Eve and her father get suspicious of Charlotte, it appears she's trying to set Johnathan up to take the fall for her husbands murder. Eve disguises herself as a temporary sent to replace Charlotte's assistant while she is ill to try and get proof of Johnathan's innocence.

This Hitchcock piece is full of suspense and intrigue. As typical of Hitch, there are unexpected twists in the plot and several close calls where Eve is almost caught putting her in emminent danger. It's a slow moving involved film, you really need to pay attention to dialog and the actions of the characters for clues. I really enjoyed it, though my opinion may be bias here since he is one of my favorite directors. I just love the complexity of his characters.

It does sound good - I have definitely not watched enough Hitchcock.

See, if you're sneaking around trying to cover up a murder, it's important to wear your ninja suit.
