(2003) ***½
Sean Crawley is a young guy who will do about any kind of work for cash. While on a paint job he meets an electrician named Wayne Duke. Duke takes his number and promises to call if he has any work for him. That night, Duke calls with an offer for Sean to work for his boss, a shady construction mogul named Ray Matthews. They want Sean to stalk a prominent LA accountant and report everyone he meets with. After the accountant meets with a news reporter Sean is offered $13,000 to kill him. He does it, but Matthews a refuses to pay Sean and they decide to kill him instead. Sean reveals that he has hidden the folder containing all the information the accountant had gathered against Matthews.
They decide to give him repeated head trauma instead of killing him in an attempt to make him a vegetable. Sean escapes after enduring weeks of torture, goes to the homeless shelter where the murdered accountants beautiful wife volunteers and gains her trust.
The unsuspecting wife, Susan takes Sean into her home while he heals, unaware that he is responsible for murdering her husband. Hell-bent on revenge Sean’s real quest is to payback the thugs that shafted him.
I really liked this film although the wife taking a strange homeless guy into her home with her daughter and all seemed way too far-fetched. Either that or she was just plain stupid and desperate.
I think that might just have been an excuse for them to show Kari Wuhrer naked. However, it was the most unlikely place for the dude to be hanging out, I’m sure his rivals would have never thought to look for him there. The constant beatings that Sean took are just grueling. His head looked like a misshapen potato by the time they were done. A cool revenge flick and a fun watch.
