(2007) **½
Diego gets an Aztech death symbol tattooed onto himself. He is dressed up as a zombie mariachi on his way to a Day of the Dead celebration party when his car crashes and he is killed. He is sent to the Land of the Dead, where he is sacrificed to the God of Death. He tears Diego's heart out and seals it up so he has total control over his soul.
Diego is then returned to Earth with his make-up permanently affixed to his face. He finds he now has the power to restore life or to take it away. He has to fight the God of Death to retrieve his soul and the souls of his loved ones.
Not a bad flick, I kept thinking that Diego looked like a Mexican version of The Crow. The tortured soul thing is played out well when Diego realizes his lot and tries desperately to remove the make-up. It scrubs off but soon after comes right back. Seemed like it was longer than it was, nothing spectacular just okay.

Great look. Reminds me of Vinnie Vincent from KISS. But I suppose everything reminds me of KISS in one way or another...
I was thinking about The Crow as well looking at those pictures.
I love that movie. (The Crow, never seen The Dead One.)
