Nightwatch
(1997) ***1/2
Ewan McGregor plays Martin Bells, a law student who takes a job as the night watchman at a morgue thinking it will give him time to study. The problem is that he's rather paranoid and being with all those dead bodies has him on edge all the time. When he finds the body of a murdered prostitute has been dragged down a hallway he calls the doctor on call to report the incident. When the doctor, played by one of my all time favorites Brad Dourif, finally arrives the body is back where it belongs and the blood trail is mysteriosly gone as well. This certainly plays a role in discrediting the mental stability of Martin. The following night when Martin comes to work he is greeted with shaking heads and whispers as he enters the morgue. Inside he discovers the police on scene and the very same corpse he reportd moved has been sexually violated and all fingers are pointing at him. He's being set up. Seems that a serial killer is looking to get out of the biz and has decided that Martin should take the fall for him. Even his girlfriend, played by Patricia Arquette, starts becoming suspicious of him. Martin has to find the real killer and clear his name before he's put away for life. This also stars Nick Nolte & Josh Brolin.
A decent suspense horror, ultimately it's Martin's paranoia that works so well at creating that suspenseful aire. The hallways in the morgue are dark and tunnel like giving it a very creepy atmosphere. It's a descent flick and was worth the watch.

That's good to hear, I always wondered about this movie, and I like MacGregor and Arquette.
Octo, we are on the same page. I was about to write the exact same thing from beginning to end.
