The Brain Machine

(1977) Zero stars

As near as I can tell, four scientists participate in an experiment about population control, or so they believe. They are placed in a room that becomes progressively smaller to apparently represent a growing population (?). The test subjects are told that honesty is an important aspect of the experiment and that lying would have consequences.

We later learn that a powerful U.S. senator is funding this research and his true purpose is to develop mind control. Specifically, the senator wishes to insert his own thoughts into society in order to create a utopia, or something like that. Truthfully, I didn’t really understand what the hell was going on in this movie. Eventually the study’s computers take over, lock the scientists in the room and start killing everyone (I think). This film was a confusing mess and I refuse to spend another minute thinking about it.

JPX - how many zero stars have you had this year? I think you get the vote for Horrorthon Martyr of '08!

DCD I hear that, JPX has taken more for the team than any of us this year. That's been the hardest part of the Thon for me, making it all the way through the real stinkers without shutting it off or falling asleep.

Yeah, I quickly realized that I'd burn out quickly if I searched too hard for the so-bad-it's-good flicks at the bottom of the barrel. Just too many unwatchable ones out there.

If it’s really bad I turn it off. I have not sat through a zero star yet. At least not anything i would rate that low.
