Music Friday? It's BLACK Friday!

I just posted my favorite ever Black Friday story here on the toy blog I maintain with JPX. Much like when Iron Man shows up in a Hulk comic and refers to an event from his own title, this post is the little box in the corner of the panel that tells you where you can go and read about those events. And if you think that's a nerdy way to put it, read the story and find out just what kind of nerds you have all allied yourselves with. Heh heh.

God, I know. It's probably worth pointing out that JPX was going for all the figs while I'm usually just about the non-human ones. So I'm not saying he has a penchant for mannish toy girls, it just looks that way.

I can SO picture you doing that. What a hoot.

Love the story, hilarious!

I gotta tell you, I worked at Wal-mart, Seekonk during that period of time. I managed the electronics department. You would never have found the toys there because the prick that ran the toy department would take out all the good stuff and hold it for the greasy comic book store guys who would sell them for 10 times the price and give him a cut.

Working there during the hell that is so aptly named Black Friday is the very reason why this chickie shops online. I was completely done with my Christmas shopping 2 days before Thanksgiving.

I just read that a worker in a New York Wal-mart was trampled to death in Friday's stampede. Read it here

Oh man that sucks. Losing your life while temping at Wal-Mart has to be the least dignified death available. Poor guy. Maybe his family can sue.

What kills me is that the people kept shopping after they announced they were closing because of the death. Jeez!

Oh man, I just returned from snowy Vermont and I just wrote this in J&J, "I'm just now seeing this terrific post! I have the world's worst memory but I remember this event like it was yesterday. We've had many good years of toy hunting during the holidays (and the tradition will continue in a few weeks) but this particular moment was just so sweet. I don't know what was more satisfying, you grabbing the hard-to-get figures or that fat nerd staring in disbelief like a soldier that hasn't registered yet the fact that he's been shot. For the record, I already had a C3PO, which is why I wanted tranny-Leia."

Who is this Jeff person?

Love this story. (I think a version of this circulated last year, no?)

Btw, like Adam, I'd heard the "black" in Friday referred to stores finally turning a profit on the year.
