Kiddy horror

From aintitcoolnews, "I recently posted an article about my love of horror films for kids, most notably Disney's work on flicks like WATCHER IN THE WOODS and SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES. This project that arrived before me tonight seems to be in a place near those kinds of movies... although from the sounds of things it might lean a little more towards the POLTERGEIST/GREMLINS area... for kids, but a bit darker and more violent than the Disney flicks.
This film is called THEY CAME FROM UPSTAIRS and it's the brainchild of Mark Burton, the man who wrote WALLACE AND GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERERABBIT (hooray) and MADAGASCAR (umm... Wallace and Gromit, hooray!). It is being described as HOME ALONE meets GREMLINS. Seems like 20th Century Fox liked it a bunch, with word leaking out about a purchase price in the millions for the script.
I'm actually quite excited for this project. One of my favorite aspects of the Wallace and Gromit movie was how it was essentially a horror film, following horror film formulas and traditional genre devices (like killer's perspective, horror at finding mutilated bodies, in this case mutilated veggies, etc). Now we have a real deal creature feature in the works. I can't wait to see what is going on with this one. I can only hope it lives up to the potential of the title and the writer."
