You're Next

(2013) ***3/4

The wealthy Davison family gathers at their newly-acquired "fixer-upper" country estate to celebrate the parents' wedding anniversary.  Tensions run high, but family drama has to temporarily take a back seat when crossbow bolts start to fly through the windows and the family members and their significant others are killed off, one after another.

What a great idea to bring a touch of black comedy to the home invasion subgenre.  Yes, it's gory and violent, but the humor keeps it from being oppressive.  If you're looking for a consistently entertaining watch with a healthy PITA quotient, give this one a try.

Wow, the three quarter star makes an appearance! Is that a thing?

I chuckled at the notion of a "healthy Pipe in the Ass quotient", which suggests that there is an unhealthy one (there is).
