Walled In
(2009) ***
Sam just finished her studies in building demolition and is about to join her father's demolition company. To congratulate her he challenges her to her first actual demolition and promises to reward her success by making her his partner. She is sent out alone to measure and mark the building. Once there she finds Mary the caretaker and her son Jimmy plus a couple of tenants still residing there. She finds out the building has a history. A serial killer once lived there, he cemented several people into the walls including the building architect.
As Sam continues to ready the building for demolition it becomes apparent that Jimmy has a crush on her. He wants to impress her so he takes her into the padlocked architect's apartment on the 8th floor where the cemented in bodies were found. While they are in the apartment they spot someone else lurking in the shadows. Sam starts to realize that things aren't exactly as they appear to be and she just doesn't know who to trust. Her fiance shows up and they explore the 8th floor apartment once more. Their curiosity spirals into a twisted chain of events that change everything.
I went into this one expecting nothing. The description sounded good and the cover art looked cool that usually equals crappy movie in my experience. I was surprised to find that I really liked it. The story unfolded nicely and the building was really cool looking. The opening scene is meant to shock you into giving up your full attention and it does. The way the residents are portrayed makes you suspicious of all of them. You really aren't sure who, if any to trust until the ending sequence. A good watch for anyone looking to add to their list.

Cool! Nice to find a good one when you are not expecting much.
That guy looks like Jake Lloyd from Phantom Menace.
Okay, I looked on imdb and it isn't, but Sam is played by Mischa Barton??? I guess her career tanked and I wasn't paying attention.
