Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster

(1965) ***1/2

Everything about this movie is just ridiculous. In this world “Frankenstein” refers to a cyborg created by the government from human body parts and machinery designed with the purpose of investigating life on Mars. There’s life on Mars alright – HILARIOUS life on Mars:

Smug Dr. Nadir and the coldhearted Martian Princess mistake the rocket ship for a missile and promptly blow it to smithereens nearly killing the cyborg. Frank (yes, that’s right, he’s named Frank) lands in Puerto Rico, injured and disfigured. His fried circuits cause him to hobble around and terrorize the locals and he embarks on a minor but memorable killing spree. Meanwhile the Martians land in Puerto Rico themselves to initiate a scheme that would make Ed Wood Blush. The objective of “Phase 2” is to kidnap scantily clad babes to assist them in repopulating their own sterile planet. At this point I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. When I returned I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in the midst of a bikini party. The fun didn’t last long however as the aliens promptly raided the party.

If you're still not yet sold on this movie then please allow me to introduce you to Mull:

Mull is a giant freaky space monster kept in a cage by the Martians and though his purpose completely eluded me, he made a great opponent for Frank in the climactic battle to save the world.. er… save the handful of hot mamas rather. The last 5 minutes are sublime.

You were drinking "water" while watching this?

Well yeah, by "water" I meant "Jameson on the rocks".

I think I saw this on Creature Double Feature once! Is there a scene of supine bikini babes on a conveyor belt?

I'm going to Mull this over before I watch it.

It's so late, and I'm so exhausted, I'm resorting to puns.

Forgive me, Horrorthon.

That last picture alone makes me want to watch this.

Oh, the other splendid thing about this movie is the repeated usage of this obscure 60's gem:
