The Iron Rose

(1973) *

They met at a party. Concluded their first date in a cemetery. Had sex in a crypt. When they surfaced from the crypt darkness had spread. They spent under three minutes trying to find the exit. With defeat already looming, they fought each other, then she suddenly went crazy and screamed until he fell in an open grave where she soon followed and they proceeded to makeout on a pile of bones and skulls. Persistent to retrieve his missing watch in the crypt, this was his third request, he climbed in where she quickly locked him, and he rapidly suffocated and died. Then, she danced, and danced, and danced some more. In fact, she danced for longer then they ever tried to find their way out. When daylight came she joined him to perish in the tomb, but not before muttering a few final words. “You are all dead, and we are alive,” which means the living are really dead, and the dead are really living.

This is another Jean Rollins flick. Like the other I saw (Night of the Hunted), it sucked, but I’ll continue watching. This guy has a huge list of horror films and I’m trying to find out why he was allowed to keep making them. Apparently, he is believed to have made the first French vampire and gore film.

Loved it! The review that is. Perhaps you've stumbled on the French M. Night Shyamalan.

sounds dreadful! good luck trying to find the rose in the dungheap of this director's oeuvre... especially since you don't know for sure there is such a rose.

That's two movies from this guy and in all the pictures of his films there is not one stitch of clothing. And still his movies suck. At least he saves money on costumes.

Hilarious, Whirly. Sorry you had to sit through all that dancing, but it made for an excellent review!
