The Ghost

(2004) ***½

Another gem from Asia Extreme. Ji-won has amnesia, after her sister and some of her friends are mysteriously killed she discovers that she is somehow linked to the deaths and must try to recover her memories before she becomes the next victim.

Ok, so I know I cheesed out on the plot summary but honestly, it's that simple. The thing about this film is the ghost and the watery deaths that she causes. First is Ji-won's sister. She is at the sink and the water wont go down, she pulls out the drain stop and what comes with it is a long, thick twist of black hair. Water begins pooling up by her feet then seems to absorb right into her. She then begins projectile vomitting water back into the sink. I'll stop there because I don't want to ruin the experience for anyone. The deaths are creative and the ghost is scary. It's everything we like about these J-horror flicks.

JPX and I just watched this one last night.

I was totally confused about who was vomiting up the water at the beginning. I had a terrible time telling these girls apart. That was Ji-Won's sister? I didn't know that Ji-Won had a sister.

Without trying to sound incredibly racist - I have had that same problem with some J-horror, Whirly!

I liked this film too and I'll be posting a review next week, after I catch up on more horror...
