The Dead Next Door

(1989) *½

Dr. Bow unwittingly unleashes flesh eating zombies on the world. We aren't sure why it happened really cause we suddenly jump a few years forward to the zombie squad who is driving around in their zombie squad mobile eradicating the living dead. Dr. Moulsson thinks he's come up with a serum that will get rid of the zombies but he needs to go to Akron, Ohio to get the original serum from Dr. Bow's lab. He heads out with the zombie squad on a do or die mission.

In Akron they encounter the Reverend Jones and his crazy cult. The cult has dozens of zombies in captivity and they sacrifice healthy humans to feed them. The team must fend off the zombies as well as the cult members and get the serum back to Washington DC before it's too late.

Ok, so I've discovered that the most difficult thing about Horrorthon is forcing myself to make it all the way through stinkers like this one. You know it's bad when you keep checking the time to see how much is left. I knew right away it was going to be bad, even with the obvious thought they put into the special effects. It even had one of the same actors as in that so bad it's good "Skinned Alive" movie I watched. Unfortunately this one was just plain bad. Oh why do we put ourselves through such torture? Perhaps the vets can answer that for me.

The pictures look really good, I'm tempted to rent it...

hat Netflix had to say about this and why I rented it, "Widely regarded as the most expensive 8mm zombie film ever made"

It shows in the special effects but they might have wanted to invest some of that cash on better actors & better a screenplay.
