The Stink of Flesh

(2005) ***

Matool is spending his time surviving the zombie attack with his fist and his trusty hammer & nail spikes. He gets closed into a small house with some other survivors after saving a girl from her car. The zombies bust in and everyone is murdered except for Matool and a young boy. He & the boy are abducted by Nathan & Dexy, swingers who haven't had many chances to exploit their alternative lifestyle since most everyone is dead. At their home he meets Dexy's sister Sassy who has a disgusting head growing out of her side that she calls Dorothy. Everything seems pretty cozy there until three soldiers show up after a very nasty hyper-zombie attack. One of the soldiers has been bitten and it's just a matter of time before he turns into a hyper-zombie.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this film. Matool kicks ass fighting zombies with hand to hand combat. Watching him punch the crap out of zombies might sound boring but the damn things fight back so it's very entertaining. The music is great, it's like a student in the Tarantino school of directing made this low budget beauty. The Belisle (aka Basketcase) thing on Sassy is just gross so it deserved two mentions. One of the soldiers kissed it and I swear I actually gagged. I thought it was going to be just another sexploitation flick but it really is a fun watch.
