End of the Line

(2007) ***

This film had great potential, murderous religious cult freaks, talk of demons and rapture, subway tunnels. All the makings of a great horror flick. Passengers are trapped underground when the subway has a technical malfunction. Suddenly, cell phones of several passengers begin to beep. After reading an unknown message, they reveal large crosses, which are actually sheathed daggers. Proclaiming the apocalypse has arrived, they begin stabbing the other passengers to save them so they may be raptured. Some of the passengers escape from the train, only to be pursued into the tunnels.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film right up to the end. It’s one of those endings where it seems they didn’t know what to do, so they just end it abruptly. Like, oooooo, we’ll let the viewer come to his or her own conclusion. Cop out! I was mad, mad enough to write down 2 stars last night. However, I slept on it and decided that the rest of the film is really pretty solid so I gave it an extra star. If you are not bothered by “guess what happens next” endings, than End of the Line will be well worth it. Just know that you have been warned.

One of my worst nightmares is being stuck in a subway. I love the premise of this movie and want to see it despite your warning.

It's worth watching, the bulk of the movie is ballsy.

"YOU decide what happened" is one of my least favorite kind of endings. Pass.
