The Shuttered Room

(1967) ***

Susannah and her husband Mike travel to the remote town where she grew up. She persuades him to stay in the old mill house where she grew up. Upon arrival they are harassed by a group of jerks led by her cousin Ethan. It seems there is a shortage of women in the area, it’s no wonder since the men are all immature, filthy heathens. Ethan and his brood get all worked up over beautiful Susannah and begin tormenting the couple. However, the nasty boys aren’t the only threat, something much more dangerous is residing in the attic of the old house.

Who are we leering at?

Why this little cutie here.
This came on a double feature disc, I was actually more looking forward to the second film which stars Roddy McDowell (review to follow soon), but this one was actually better. A young Oliver Reed plays Ethan, the perfect choice for the horny little bastard of a cousin. Other noted performances come from Flora Robson (Clash of the Titans Stygian Witch) as the weird aunt and Carol Lynly (Poseidon Adventure) as Susannah. I’m sure I must have seen this at some point on Creature Feature, it had a good nostalgic feel to it.

That room looks like an addition built by Homer Simpson.

This sounds like Straw Dogs, but also with a monster.
