Deranged

(1974) ***

One of the more accurate Ed Gein movies that I have seen. I've seen two others and Kane Hodder playing him, just isn't right(sorry Kane, still love you!). Ed Gein was a small frail old man, not a big hulking brute! So this movie is based on the whole Ed Gein case even though they changed the names around, you get the idea. It's Ezra Cobb instead of Ed Gein.
Ezra is mommy's little boy and listens to her every word. When Ma Cobb passes away, Ezra starts to unravel a bit. He starts grave robbing and even goes back for Ma and puts her corpse right back in bed. He talks to her every day, but realizes how lonely she is and that she's falling apart. He goes back to the graveyard for some company for her and looks for fresh meat. He learns about taxidermy and ways to keep mommy's appearance fresh. He makes a couple of mistakes though...Hold on mama...I'll be back with a new face for you...This might fit..Just hanging around...

I am fascinated by serial killers - but it sounds like there are better flicks out there about Gein then this one? Suggestions?

This one is pretty good, but there is a constant hymn playing throughout the film that kinda made me nuts.

I'm with Cat, this one is good but it's actually pretty sad. The guy was deranged but also had a horrible, lonely life.

And yeah, what was that music? I remember it sounding like one of those cheap electric organs we'd goof around with in Swansea Mall.
