(2006) ***
Ten-year-old Lucy witnesses and video records on her phone, a knife attack at school. Disturbed not only by the incident itself but also by Lucy’s nonchalant reaction, her parents decide to pull her from the public school system. With only a Catholic school available to meet their financial means, her atheist parents Stuart and Alison decide to feign Catholicism to get her in. Stuart turns to his shady friend Eddie for help in finding a priest they can bribe to vouch for them. All seems to be going swimmingly as planned until a dark secret between Eddie and Stuart is revealed. Soon everything comes crashing down and the web of lies unravels.
More drama with psychological thriller undertones, this British film is weighty but interesting. It deals with heavy subject matter and a boatload of emotion. I believe I may have enjoyed it more than I would have, had I viewed it out of the grasp of Horrorthon. It was welcomed break from the ‘70’s torture porn and silly slashers.

I can't imagine a more cruel thing to do than send a child to Catholic school.
Ha! Right there with ya, JPX.
I third that emotion.
So, I'm guessing... priest sex?
Why else would you be able to blackmail him?
